Glad to be here! Can’t wait to get started. Edit: a few words about myself. I’m a free software user and activist, my workstation is a crappy old beat-up Toshiba that’s on life support from the extended protection plan I bought with it (good for getting feedback from the developers-on-shoestring-budgets demographic, eh?) and I have never liked cell phones or cameras all that much because they aren’t customizable or programmable enough. Thus, my interest in projects like Bug and OpenMoko! I really look forward to meeting you guys and exploring this platform. |

Hi there! Just dropping in to say hi. Since this also seems to be the place for introductions, I’ll do that, too :) I’m a once-bitten-twice-shy refugee from the working world pursuing my master’s (and PhD, eventually) in electrical and computer engineering. Like Ryan P, I’m a free software supporter and run Linux on all the machines that I can feasibly run Linux on, to the point of evangelizing others to our beautiful Free Software world. Also like Ryan P, I’m an emacs nerd (apologies to vi stalwarts) with lots of experience writing code in Eclipse, thanks mainly to university coursework. I’ve managed to get the SDK installed and running, and have been exploring and familiarizing myself with the various APIs that’ve been made available to us testers. I’ve made trivial changes to the examples, but have yet to get my feet wet writing anything from scratch. |

Hi, I’m Dave. I’m a software engineer, working on mobile Windows CE devices for a living in Pittsburgh. I use Mac OSX by choice and some Linux on the desktop at home, but I’m keen to get into Linux more on the embedded side, so Bug should be perfect! The only downside will be finding the time to play with it between work and the kids :-) |

Hey guys, I’m Matt. I’m a college student as well, and have experience across the board with too many programming languages and operating systems to list. Looking forward to writing some code for this platform! :) |

Hello everyone, My name is Rich and I’m a software developer in western NC, near Asheville. By day, I’m developing software for an embedded GPS tracking device that has either an iDEN or GSM modem for network connectivity. Thus, one of the attractions to BUG was all of the hardware features that are NOT included in the device I work on by day! Its a Linux based platform that supports J2SE hence I’m using Eclipse as my primary development platform. I’m in the process of installing the IDE which I hope to finish tonight. Then I’m looking forward to see what all this thing can do! |

Hi everyone! Ian here from Milwaukee. I’m currently trying to get the SDK installed … not having any luck so far. Looking forward to working on this project. Looks like fun! |

Hey folks, I’m Robert from Santa Barbara. I’ve used OSGi in a couple of gigs (I actually sat on the OSGi Vehicle Expert Group for oh, a couple of weeks before I left that job ;) ), and was pleasantly surprised to see it as your app foundation. My current gig includes thinking of interesting commercial applications for way-out tech – I’d say Bug Labs qualifies. Hey, here’s a question: I love Java, but I’m interested in OSGi-like platforms for resource-constrained environments in Python and Ruby. Any interest or plans along those lines? Cheers, R |
