Stellingwerff posted the 6th-best time in the opening heat of the womens
semi-finals Friday at Olympic Stadium. Her final time of 4:05:57 was just not
enough to qualify for the final round. Nicole Sifuentes of Winnipeg, Man.,
struggled to stay in contention in the second heat as she finished 11th with a
time of 4:06:33. It was the first Olympic Games appearance for Sifuentes and
Stellingwerff. The top five in each heat plus the next two best times advanced
to Fridays final. The womens 400m medal round will be streamed live on
CTVOlympics.ca Womens 400m hurdles Russias Natalya Antyukh held off reigning
world champion Lashinda Demus of the United States to win the gold medal in the
