GOLD COAST, Australia—Nathan Sharpe has taken over the captaincy from injured
scrumhalf Will Genia and Nick Phipps has slotted into the halfback role in a
reshuffled Australian lineup for the Rugby Championship match against Argentina
on Saturday. Ryan Fitzpatrick Youth Jersey . The
34-year-old Sharpe will be Australias fourth test captain of the year after
James Horwill, David Pocock and Genia all succumbed to long-term injuries. In
other changes, Berrick Barnes moved from centre to fullback to replace Kurtley
Beale, who was relegated to the bench. Pat McCabe will return from injury and
start at inside centre. In the second row, Sharpe will partner Kane Douglas, who
will become the 10th player to make his debut for Australia in eight test
matches when he replaces the injured Sitaleki Timani. Sharpe will captain
Australia for the third time on Saturday in his 109th test match, fittingly in
the town in which he spent much of his early life. Gold Coasts Skilled Park will
host a test for the first time, becoming Australias eighth home test venue and
the second new venue of the current season after Newcastle hosted the Wallabies
test against Scotland in June. Sharpe previously led Australia against New
Zealand in 2004 and Samoa in 2005. “Its rare when you have played at this level
for as long as I have to come across something totally new, but to play a Test
in my home town is something I would never have imagined happening when I
started,” Sharpe said. “To have the privilege of leading Australia in the first
ever test to be played on the Gold Coast is an experience I will always
treasure. But the memory is down the track. “For now, its important we keep our
focus as a team, build on what we achieved last weekend in Perth, and add to
that momentum. No one else in the squad has played Argentina before but I have
and they will be tough, incredibly passionate and uncompromising. “You only have
to look at what they have achieved to date in their tournament matches to see
what a threat they will be.” Argentina lost narrowly to South Africa in its
opening match in the Rugby Championship, drew 16-16 with the Springboks at home,
then lost 21-5 to New Zealand on Saturday after holding the All Blacks to 6-5 at
halftime. Coach Robbie Deans expressed confidence in Douglas ability to form an
effective new second row partnership with the veteran Sharpe. “Kane has been
with us a fair while now, has worked hard and provides us with a similar
set-piece presence as Sita (Timani) does,” Deans said. “Hes a big man so he will
help anchor the scrum on the tighthead side in a similar way to how Sita has.
Kane also has the benefit of plenty of recent match play under his belt in club
rugby, which will help make his introduction to test rugby a little easier.”
Phipps will make his fifth test appearance at scrumhalf but only his second in a
starting role. “Nicks had a good grounding, knows our method and has worked
hard,” Deans said. “He has a great work ethic, is a quality bloke to have in the
group as his enthusiasm is infectious, and has handled everything that has been
thrown at him as a test player—including a run as a replacement wing during
last years Rugby World Cup. Hes ready to go.” The 33-year-old Brett Sheehan
returns after a three-year absence from the Wallabies to take the reserve
scrumhalf role. After opening the series with back-to-back losses to World Cup
champion New Zealand, Australia now has the chance for consecutive wins after a
grinding, comeback victory over the Springboks. It will be Argentinas first
match in Australia since the 2003 World Cup, when the Pumas lost the opening
match to the home team. The Pumas only win over the Wallabies in Australia was
on their first visit, when the great Hugo Porta inspired them to an upset 18-3
win at Ballymore in 1983. ————Australia: Berrick Barnes, Dom Shipperley,

. At the same time, the Dallas Stars thought they had a legitimate shot at
winning a championship but they had a decision to make. Do they give up a
potential franchise player to acquire a veteran that could put them over the
top? It was the definition of a present-for-future type of deal. Marcell Dareus Jersey . Scotts goal ended a
305-minute drought for the Sounders (3-1-1). Michael Gspurning picked up his
second straight shutout and third of the season. Colorado (3-3-0) was blanked
for the second straight game, both on the road. Ryan Fitzpatrick Womens Jersey . —Orlando
Cruz has won his first fight since publicly declaring his homosexuality.BEREA,
Ohio—The plan is clear: Accumulate draft picks, use them wisely, then put
those players in the starting lineup. The Cleveland Browns believe that finally,
they are on track for success. Led by a pair of first-round picks, running back
Trent Richardson and quarterback Brandon Weeden, Cleveland could have four
rookies start on offence this season. And on Monday, linebacker
James-Michael Johnson put in a claim on defence with two interceptions. “They
throw it, I can catch it,” said Johnson, a fourth-round choice from Nevada. “I
was just doing my job. But, yeah, it felt good.” Coach Pat Shurmur was
impressed. “He had an interception, a couple actually,” he said. “He looked good
on the goal line. Hes had a couple of good days, he really has.” Johnson could
certainly fill a void when veteran linebacker Scott Fujita misses the first
three games. Fujita is suspended for his part in the New Orleans bounty scandal.
“They havent told me anything except to go out and play,” Johnson said. “They
need me to go get water, Ill do it.” Shurmur saw “plenty of mistakes” as the
offence worked on short-yardage and goal-line situations as well as the
two-minute drill. “We need to correct them, but thats why we do them,” he said.
Shurmur was happy nobody was injured in practicing situational football. “You
always keep your fingers crossed because all the legs are piled up,” he said.
“Well do a little red zone the next time. Well just keep going through
situations and building.” General manager Tom Heckert, insisting the Browns must
build through the draft, used Clevelands first two picks a year ago on beefy
linemen Phil Taylor and Jabaal Sheard to bolster the defence. Now, its time to
boost an offence that scored just 218 points, ahead of only Kansas City (212)
and St. Louis (193). Richardson is slated to start, while Weeden is taking
first-team reps ahead of incumbent Colt McCoy. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz
and wide receiver Josh Gordon are working with the first team, too. Shurmur also
is eager to see more of fourth-rounder Travis Benjamin. The 5-foot-10 receiver
from Miami runs crisp routes and—important to a team plagued by drops—
makes catches. “I think he has rreally established himself,” Shurmur said. Stephon Gilmore Jersey. “Hes distinguished
himself catching the ball in traffic.” Weeden is on track, too, according to
Shurmur. “I think hes got a pretty good grasp of (the offence),” he said.
Richardson said he is ready to complement the passing game and accept the
responsibility of being a high-profile running back. “Its only pressure if you
make it pressure,” he said. “I dont think were just going to be a running team,
I think we are going to be a balanced team. So, we will be ready for whatever.”
Richardson displayed versatility Monday, bursting through holes created by
Joe Thomas and Schwartz. He also took some screen passes, broke open over the
middle a couple times, and leaped to snare a sideline toss from Weeden. The
Browns know they can run left behind Thomas, a five-time Pro Bowl tackle. They
hope Schwartz, a second-round selection from California, can help bolster the
right side. “He competes well,” Shurmur said. “Hes very smart, hes very good
with his technique. Offensive linemen who know how to use their feet and hands
of course can play and perform well. Well see.” Shurmur cautioned that Schwartz
hasnt been used in a game yet. That will be a big test for all of Clevelands
rookies. NOTES: DB Joe Haden burst through the line untouched to block a
“game-winning” field-goal attempt by K Phil Dawson to end a two-minute drill.
... Tempers heated as FB Brad Smelley and LB Craig Robertson took swings at each
other after a play. Later, DL Emmanuel Stephens and OL Jason Pinkston had to be
separated. ... Tuesday is officially an off day, “not a vacation day,” according
to Shurmur. He expects players to do their own extra work and prepare for a busy
Wednesday. ... Shurmur said 11-year CB Sheldon Brown is a starter “right now,”
but likes how Dmitri Patterson, a starter in Philadelphia in 2010, and
second-year Buster Skrine are playing. ... DL Frostee Rucker explained his
unique first name: “My dad was a DJ known as DJ Frost because he was cold with
the spins,” Rucker said. “So, he named me. His real name is Lynn. He had it
changed to Frostee.” Does that make him senior or junior? “I had it first.” ’ ’
