ANAHEIM, Calif. Reggie Bush Jersey . —The Los Angeles
Angels began the season confident Albert Pujols would anchor a powerful lineup.
Pujols has been an anchor, all right. But the slumping slugger is just one
reason the Angels are sinking to depths of historic proportions. Tyson Ross
allowed five hits in six strong innings to snap a three-start skid, Josh Reddick
homered and Seth Smith hit a two-run double in the Oakland Athletics 5-0 victory
Monday night. Dan Haren (1-4) yielded six hits and four runs during another poor
start for the Angels, who were shut out for a major league-worst eighth time
this season, a club record for 36 games into the season. The shutouts occurred
over the past 31 games. Los Angeles offence wasnt helped when outfielder
Torii Hunter went on the restricted list before the game to deal with his
teenage sons arrest, but an entire Angels lineup stacked with proven veteran
hitters has been alarmingly inept. “This team is too good to be shut out as much
as weve been shut out this season,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “I think
we had better at-bats than its going to show in the box score. ... Its going to
be a grind. Theres only one way out of the hole, and thats to grind, inch by
inch.” Pujols went 1 for 4 with an eighth-inning single, following up his
5-for-26 road trip by drawing scattered boos as his batting average improved to
.197. The $240 million man hit his only homer of the season in the Angels
previous home game May 6. “Its been frustrating, and its surprising,” said
Vernon Wells, who went 1 for 4 and made a diving catch in left field. “When you
do everything right and still dont get the results, thats one of the most
frustrating things about this game.” For all of the Angels offensive problems,
their No. 2 starters struggles might be even more worrisome. Haren didnt make it
out of the fourth inning of his last start when his back tightened up, resulting
in the three-time All-Stars shortest start in seven years. He was no better
against the As, his former team, allowing a baserunner in each of his first five
innings and finishing his six innings with four walks. The Angels trail the
Texas Rangers by eight games in the AL West, their largest deficit on May 14
since 2001—and Los Angeles disappointing season keeps getting uglier. Hunter
left the team after his 17-year-old son, Darius, was arrested in Texas during an
investigation of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony. Hunter was
put on the restricted list, and Scioscia refused to speculate how long the
Angels clubhouse leader will be absent. Smith also doubled and scored on
Josh Donaldsons sacrifice fly for the As, who have won five of their last six
road games and four straight at Angel Stadium. After throwing an impressive
no-decision in this stadium last month, Ross (2-3) thoroughly enjoyed another
short trip south, striking out two and only allowing a runner to reach third
base in the fifth inning. He yielded 25 hits and 19 runs over just 13 innings in
his past three starts, but he carved up the struggling Angels before three
relievers contributed one scoreless inning apiece. “I dont know what it is,”
said Ross, who has given up just six runs over 25 2-3 innings at Angel Stadium
in his career. “I feel comfortable on that mound, with the backdrop, everything.
Im able to get on top of hitters and get some action early in the count.”
Kurt Suzuki drove in another run in Oaklands eighth win in 12 games overall.
Reddick hit his ninth homer in the first inning, a no-doubt blast into the
elevated stands in right. Smith hustled for a double in the fourth, advanced on
a wild pitch and scored on Donaldsons lineout. Oakland loaded the bases with
nobody out in the fifth, and Smith stroked a one-out double over Pujols head
before Haren escaped the jam. Ross and his relievers didnt need any more help.
“There are just ballparks you feel comfortable in,” Oakland manager Bob Melvin
said. “Theres mounds and places where you have some success and feel good. Its
not like this is the easiest lineup to navigate through … and (Haren) is not
an easy guy to hit.” NOTES: Ervin Santana pitches Tuesday for the Angels on
their four-game homestand before a 10-game road trip up to Memorial Day. Former
Angels RHP Bartolo Colon starts for Oakland. ... Home plate umpire Tom Hallion
was hit on the left arm by Kendrys Morales foul tip in the first inning. Hallion
danced away from the plate in obvious pain, but stayed in the game after a few
minutes of recovery. ... Oaklands Collin Cowgill stole second base while
Jemile Weeks struck out in the third inning, but Hallion ordered him back to
first after Weeks interfered with Angels C Bobby Wilson on the follow-through of
his swing. Cowgill stole the base two pitches later. Jake Long Jersey .  The concert was Tim
McGraw and Kenny Chesney, at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver
and it was just a few days after a mentally disturbed 24-year-old man allegedly
walked into a movie theater heavily armed in Aurora Colorado, killing 12 people
and injuring many more. A day before the theater shooting rampage, a friend of
mine from Regina said that he had an extra ticket to the concert, if I could
make it, which is how I ended up in Denver on Saturday night. Cameron Wake Jersey . Get interactive with

Phoenix Coyotes are a step closer to having an owner after three years of
waiting. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced Monday that the league has
reached a preliminary agreement to sell the team to a group headed by former San
Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison. Bettman said the league and the group will work
toward reaching a formal sales agreement while Jamison negotiates with the city
of the Glendale on a new lease for Jobing.com Arena. Bettman said he hopes to
have the sale completed in a matter of weeks, not months. “We didnt have a
formal announcement to make; this is more of an update to where things are,”
Bettman said before Phoenix and Nashville played Game 5 of their best-of-seven
playoff series. “But we think things are on track and see light at the end of
the tunnel. This is a path, based on everything we know, were comfortable
pursuing.” Jamison still must complete negotiations on a lease with the city of
Glendale, always the nagging issue in the leagues attempts to sell the team,
which the NHL purchased out of bankruptcy. The sale also would have to be
approved by the leagues board of governors. The anticipated announcement of the
tentative agreement first was reported by the Phoenix Business Journal. “Its
been some interesting times, some ups and some downs, but the future we believe
is very bright,” Jamison said. “The future is bright for participants, for fans
and sponsors and suite holders, and were excited about it.” This isnt the first
time the NHL has had a potential new owner for the Coyotes. Then-owner Jerry
Moyes took the team into bankruptcy three years ago with the intention of
selling it to Canadian businessman Jim Balsillie, who wanted to move the
franchise to Hamilton. The league vehemently opposed the plan and, after two
prospective buyers pulled out, the NHL was the lone bidder to purchase the team
out of bankruptcy. Quebec City mayor Regis Labeaume has lobbied for the
relocation of the team to the provincial capital. In late January Labeaume said
that should an NHL team, with the Coyotes as an obvious example, look to
relocate to Quebec City, the municipality was ready to welcome it to the
existing Pepsi Colisee as early as “tomorrow morning.” “I will be careful what I
say, but if the League called, (we) would be ready,” he said in a Jan. 20
article by the Canadian Press. Quebec City has plans underway for an arena to be
completed by 2015. The NHL believed it had a deal in place last year to sell the
Coyotes to Chicago businessman Matthew Hulsizer, only to see it fall through
when the Goldwater Institute inserted itself into the debate and warned
potential bond buyers to stay away from the Glendale offering because of a
looming lawsuit.dddddddddddd Bettman said he believed that deal was legally
sound, but the threat made it impossible to complete it. He said the deal with
Jamisons group is vastly different than the deal with Hulsizer and that he
doesnt anticipate any problems with a “third-party interference.” “If we do,
well deal with it as it comes,” Bettman said. The league has long said it wanted
to find a buyer to keep the team in Glendale and the city committed US$25
million each of the past two seasons to help cover operating losses. If recent
attempts to find a buyer fell through, the NHL would be clear to finally
determine whether to move the franchise elsewhere. Monday night provided a
dramatic backdrop to such an announcement, with a packed house on hand to watch
the upstart Coyotes close out their Western Conference semifinal series with the
Predators. Phoenix won Mondays game 2-1 and took the series 4-1 to advance to
the conference final. Behind general manager Don Maloney and coach Dave Tippett,
the team has managed to make the playoffs each of the three seasons it has been
owned by the NHL. But this season marked the first time the franchise advanced
past the first round of the playoffs since 1987, nine years before it moved from
Winnipeg to Arizona. Jamison has been in talks for some time on a new lease for
the use of Jobing.com Arena, and terms of that lease could still run afoul of a
conservative watchdog group, the Goldwater Institute, that stymied a previous
attempt to sell the franchise a year ago. The city would pay an annual feel to
the Coyotes for operation of the arena, a figure that the Goldwater group could
see as a thinly disguised subsidy and a violation of the Arizona Constitution.
Any new lease would have to go before the Glendale City Council. Several reports
have four members of the council agreeing to the general framework of a deal
with Jamison. The Coyotes have not made money since they moved to Arizona, a
trend Jamison hopes to change. “You have to have goals, things you think you can
accomplish,” Jamison said. “We firmly believe that a good path has started in
recent years and we want to build on that. Its basically just good hard work.
Its exciting and this is a product we believe in” ’ ’ ’
