PHOENIX —Goran Dragic is coming back to Phoenix, where he is likely to take

agreement with the free agent on a four-year, $30 million contract that can rise
to $34 million with incentives, according to a person with knowledge of the
situation who requested anonymity because deals cant be signed until next week.

busy Wednesday night for Phoenix. Earlier, they agreed to a sign-and-trade deal
to send Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers and, according to a person close to the
talks, reached an agreement on a three-year, $18 million contract with free
agent forward Michael Beasley. Dragic was Nashs backup in Phoenix before being
traded to Houston in February 2011, along with a lottery-protected first-round
draft pick for point guard Aaron Brooks. Several teams had been courting Dragic,
who drew increased interest when he moved in as starter for the Rockets after
Kyle Lowry was sidelined with a bacterial infection. Dragic was named Western
Conference player of the week on April 8 after compiling 62 points and 25
assists in wins over Chicago, the Lakers and Sacramento. Dragic has averaged
11.7 points and 5.3 assists in 28 minutes per game in his career, mostly as a
backup. The Slovenian was drafted in the second round in 2008, the 45th pick
overall, by San Antonio, then his draft rights were traded to the Suns. His most
famous day with Phoenix came on May 7, 2010, during Game 3 of the Western
Conference finals at San Antonio, when he scored 23 of his 26 points in the
fourth quarter, including 5 of 5 3-pointers, in a 110-96 victory. But his play
tailed off the following season and the Suns made a trade deadline decision that
Brooks was the better option. Brooks played in China last season but remains a

what were running,” Harrell said. “That gives us a chance to be successful. So I
think communication is going to be big for us. As long as were all on the same
page, I think we have a chance to be successful, because we have a lot of
talented players.” Harrell knows running the offence smoothly will test his
development as a leader. “Thats one of the quarterbacks main jobs … to make
sure everyone knows what theyre doing. ... If someones wrong, if were all wrong
together, we still have a chance, you know?” Harrell said. “So thats going to be
the key, I think, just being all on the same page and giving ourselves a
chance.” Harrell threw 134 touchdowns at Texas Tech, a major college record that
stood until Houstons Case Keenum surpassed it last year. But Harrell went
undrafted out of college and got tryouts with the Cleveland Browns in 2009 and

they wont know for sure until Harrell actually plays. “You never know until you
know,” Thompson said. “Until they go in the game and they actually have to play
and make the calls and carry the team and conduct themselves and do all the
things thats called for from that position, you never know. But we like what we
see.” And Thompson has confidence in the ability of McCarthy and his staff to
develop young quarterbacks. “I personally think our coaches can develop
quarterbacks and tweak things if they need to be tweaked,” Thompson said.
“Sometimes, its a fine line between being a pretty good quarterback and maybe
not good enough. I think our guys have done a good job of working with Graham
and getting him farther along.” Harrell spent the off-season working to shore up
one of the biggest questions about his game, his arm strength. Now, he says, its
just a matter of getting more experience. “I think experience is the best way to
improve,” Harrell said. “I have more experience than I ever have before because
Ive been here longer. The longer Im here, the better I feel in the offence.” ’ ’
