Hi,

I would like to use some of the JLayer 1.0 packages for audio decoding and playback in the BUG (For the new audio module). At first I tried to just import these packages into my BUG App, then realized I probably have to export them as OSGi bundles. The only problem is that I am unable to edit the JLayer .jar manifest file in order to export the packages. I am fairly new to the whole OSGi stuff, so please feel free to deeply elaborate on any responses.

As far as audio goes, it depends on what you’re trying to do, the platform you’re on, and the audio format you’re using. Let me know your OS and what you’re trying to play.

PhoneME has API support for Audio. Linux has command-line audio support, so it should be possible to hack it with a Runtime.getRuntime().exec("alsa…...") if you have alsa installed.

I’m working to get audio support on the physical BUG. The hardware supports full audio output, including wav and mp3.

I am basically trying to play an MP3 using JLayer on the bug. JLayerME uses the J2ME JVM for realtime decoding of mp3’s, and provides a fairly nice API.

Currently I am running Windows Vista, and have no idea how to snag any audio resources. :)

Sounds interesting, I’m going to take a look and see what I can do with the JLayer libraries and get back to you.

I got this working, if anyone has any questions about this topic.

It will be out in a couple weeks or so, I still need to do some multi-threading and GUI work.
