ROME Denmark forward Nicklas Bendtner was finalizing a loan deal from Arsenal
to Serie A champion Juventus and Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong left
Manchester City for a three-year deal with AC Milan in the two most notable
moves on the final day of a lacklustre Italian transfer window. Mike Iupati Super bowl Jersey . Juventus said
Friday that Bendtner was undergoing medical tests, while Milan announced the
deal for De Jong and included him in its squad for Saturdays match at Bologna.
Juventus will reportedly pay Bendtner €1.5 million ($1.88 million) this season,
and will have the option to pay Arsenal €6 million ($7.54 million) after this
season to keep him. “So happy and humble. A dream come true,” Bendtner tweeted.
Milan will reportedly pay City a €3.5 million ($4.4 million) transfer fee for De
Jong. With few major acquisitions, the Italian transfer window has been
characterized by departures of key players like Milans Zlatan Ibrahimovic and
Thiago Silva, and Napolis Ezequiel Lavezzi — with all three joining Paris
Saint-Germain. Bendtner scored eight goals while on loan with Sunderland last
season. De Jong helped City to the Premier League title last season and was on
the Netherlands team that finished runner-up to Spain at the 2010 World Cup.
While Juve has kept most of its squad intact after winning Serie A for the first
time since before the 2006 match-fixing scandal, Milan offloaded an entire
squads worth of players and has made several acquisitions this week. On
Wednesday, Milan signed 22-year-old Spanish forward Bojan Krkic from Roma, a day
after adding 17-year-old French forward MBaye Niang from Caen. Inter Milan also
appears relatively satisfied with its squad, having already added goalkeeper
Samir Handanovic from Udinese to replace the departed Julio Cesar, midfielder
Walter Gargano on loan from Napoli and forwards Antonio Cassano (from Milan) and
Rodrigo Palacio (Genoa). But club President Massimo Moratti is still looking for
a backup to forward Diego Milito, with Lazios Sergio Floccari among the
last-minute possibilities. On Friday, Inter introduced Uruguayan midfielder and
fullback Alvaro Pereira, who was signed from Porto to replace the departed
Maicon. “Maicon was a great and important player and he did a lot for Inter, but
Im Alvaro Pereira and Im another person,” Pereira said. Among other late deals,
Napoli, aiming for a top-three finish to get back into the Champions League, is
hoping to sign midfielder Giandomenico Mesto from Genoa; and forward Marco
Borriello could leave Roma for Genoa if Alberto Gilardino goes to Bologna.
Fiorentina has remodeled its entire squad with 15 new players for coach Vincenzo
Montella, with the final additions being Serbia defender Nenad Tomovic in a €2.5
million ($3.14 million) deal from Lecce and midfielder Giuliano Migliaccio in a
free loan from Palermo. Earlier this week, Fiorentina sharply criticized
Juventus for interfering in its negotiations with Manchester United forward
Dimitar Berbatov, who now appears set to remain in England. Sydney FC announced
Friday that former Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero had agreed to contract
terms with the A-League club, but the players brother and agent said the deal
was not finalized. Also, troubled forward Adrian Mutu joined Corsican side
Ajaccio in a three-year deal earlier this week from Cesena. Perrish Cox Jersey . Living in Bosnia at the

Sept.Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) – World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka held
off defending champion Samantha Stosur on a rainy Tuesday to secure a berth in
the semifinals at the U.S. Open. The Australian Open champion Azarenka edged out
the seventh-seeded Stosur 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) at Arthur Ashe Stadium, where rain
delayed play for 75 minutes with the Belarusian leading 3-0 in the first set.
Azarenka steamrolled her way though the first set before Stosur fought back in
the second. In the third set, Azarenka went out to a 4-2 lead following a break,
but Stosur got the break back and eventually forced the match-deciding tiebreak.
Azarenka set up her first match point in the tiebreak with a backhand drop
shot
winner, and converted on it when Stosur sent one final backhand beyond the
baseline after 2 hours, 23 minutes of quality tennis. With the victory over
Stosur, Azarenka is guaranteed to remain atop the womens rankings next week.
“She played amazing,” Azarenka said. “So much higher, the level was today. Again
made me play my best tennis. I was hoping for a few outs, but she kept hitting
the lines. I kept saying, Miss, miss. She didnt want to, I guess.” The Minsk
native Azarenka is now a perfect 11-0 in three-set matches this year and a
flawless 7-0 lifetime overall versus Stosur, having won 14-of-15 sets. The
23-year-old Azarenka will now appear in her fourth career Grand Slam semifinal
and her first at the U.S. Open. Delanie Walker Womens Jersey. Stosur stunned
American great Serena Williams in straight sets in last years U.S. Open finale
and was a French Open runner-up in 2010. Azarenka will meet the Maria
Sharapova-Marion Bartoli winner on Thursday. Azarenka beat the French Open champ
Sharapova in the Aussie Open championship match back in January. The
third-seeded Sharapova was trailing the 11th-seeded former Wimbledon runner-up
Bartoli 0-4 at Ashe when their match was suspended for the day because of rain.
The start of the match was delayed by wet weather for an hour-and-a-half. The
former world No. 1 Sharapova captured her lone U.S. Open title in 2006. The 2012
Aussie Open runner-up captured the French Open in June to complete a coveted
career Grand Slam. Sharapova lost to Williams in last months Olympic gold-medal
match. The womens quarterfinals are scheduled to conclude Wednesday on the
hardcourts at the National Tennis Center, where Sharapova will continue her
affair against Bartoli, the fourth-seeded Wimbledon champion and Olympic gold
medalist Williams will encounter 12th-seeded fellow former world No. 1 Ana
Ivanovic of Serbia, and 10th-seeded French Open runner-up Sara Errani will
battle 20th-seeded good friend, fellow Italian and doubles partner Roberta
Vinci. Errani and Vinci are into the doubles semifinals in Flushing. Williams
owns 14 major singles titles, including three at the U.S. Open, where shes also
a two-time runner-up. ’ ’ ’
