I’m trying to develop a web service client within a bug application which would communicate to a web service via an internet connection. Now, I’ve been able to establish the actual connection to the internet. However, as I am not very familiar with Eclipse, I was wondering if:

1. Web service clients can be integrated within a BUG app

2. There are any tutorials that uses the BUG to communicate to a web service

3. If all else fails, any code which might relate to using web services with a BUG

There are many example apps that do this.  I prefer using Apache’s httpclient (which I believe is what is used for motherbugtweetNtwitch).

Thanks for answering so many of my questions (and you can bet there are loads to come, so don’t go anywhere ;)).

I did some searches around BUG apps as well as on the BUG Community and it seems that most of the Web Services are written as a RESTful-WS. However, I am concerned about dealing with SOAP-WS. What I ultimately would like to do is to create a SOAP client from a WSDL and call the WS henceforth, within a BUG app of course.

I’d appreciate any insight.

Hi Diran,

I too want to cosume a SOAP web service from the bug sdk. So far I used which is part of the JDK 1.5 + in the bin directory, you’ll find a util called wsimport.exe.

I use Windows Vista, so from my command prompt I execute wsimport with all the param required (see http://www.codeproject.com/KB/java/edujini_webservice_java.aspx for info) to generate the java client proxy.

I personally incorporated these java classes into my bug app, but I’m facing some issues like this one:

Hi Livercool, can you paste some code?  Specifically line 8 of Service1Client.java (and surrounding) and perhaps SendPicture.java at line 55 (and surrounding)

I think openjdk does not have the following lib:

• import javax.xml.ws.Service;
• import javax.xml.ws.WebEndpoint;
• import javax.xml.ws.WebServiceClient;
• import javax.xml.ws.WebServiceFeature;

Any suggestions?

Fixed few missing packages, but the following I don’t know:

Package ‘com.sun.xml.internal.ws.api.message’ is not imported by bundle soapClientTest2 [26], nor is there any bundle that exports package ‘com.sun.xml.internal.ws.api.message’. However, the class ‘com.sun.xml.internal.ws.api.message.Header’ is available from the system class loader. There are two fixes: 1) Add package ‘com.sun.xml.internal.ws.api.message’ to the ‘org.osgi.framework.system.packages.extra’ property and modify bundle soapClientTest2 [26] to import this package; this causes the system bundle to export class path packages. 2) Add package ‘com.sun.xml.internal.ws.api.message’ to the ‘org.osgi.framework.bootdelegation’ property; a library or VM bug can cause classes to be loaded by the wrong class loader. The first approach is preferable for preserving modularity.
