So I got my bug today :) cool piece of kit, I’m really looking forward to playing with it. I’m having some issues getting started though.

First off, I’m running ubuntu, (8.10 intrepid, with a 2.6.27-9-generic kernel). I’ve been through the start guide and have assigned the IP and can ping the device, though I can’t ssh into it nor can the MyBugs view connect to it via http. From the terminal on the device I can see that the ssh & www ports are open.

ssh root@
ssh: connect to host port 22: Connection refused

ssh & telnet both get connections refused and scanning the ports with nmap says they are all closed. (Just to note, looking again at the start guide again http://bugcommunity.com/wiki/index.php/Start_Gu… in most places its using as the device ip and then to ssh it says to uses, i’m assuming this is a typo and should be

ifconfig shows the ip assigned as follows

usb0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 0a:fb:17:14:aa:9f inet addr: Bcast: Mask: inet6 addr: fe80::8fb:17ff:fe14:aa9f/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:36 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:637 (637.0 B) TX bytes:4983 (4.9 KB)

I figure I must have configured something incorrectly, for the ping to succeed and yet fail connections to the device, though I’ve retraced the steps in the guide to be sure. Anyone seen this or know what might be going on?

Hi Ste

The default IP of the bug is The host device interface (in this case usb0 on your desktop) has the IP of So to SSH to the device you would type ssh -l root

From your ipconfig dump it looks like you have configured your machine correctly. So you should be able to run the above command and login. The username and password is root/root (password can be anything since there is no shadow file)

Isn’t it funny how we www.coachfactorystoreec.com/ Coach Factory Store always want what we can’t have? The girl with the round and pert backside wishes that her rear were 5 times smaller. Meanwhile, the girl with the non existent posterior wishes to achieve a larger butt. Well, if the grass is greener on the other side, just water yours! If you’ve got a small behind, you can create the illusion of a larger one with butt enhancing jeans. Here’s how to do it. Look for light weight denim – This material is very stiff and heavy. If you try to stuff a flat butt into denim jeans, it will only create a flatter looking behind. A little stretch goes a long way – Your butt enhancing jeans should additionally contain some stretch. A mixture of 98 percent cotton and 2 percent lycra is best. This combination of lycra and cotton, especially when it’s in a nice tight-weave fabric that’s fitted through the hip and thigh area will help lift your buttocks. Too much lycra and your jeans may start to ripple like a pair of leggings. If there’s not enough cotton content, there won’t be enough structure to hold you up. It’
