It is not always the best team that wins in football; often it is the team that
plays the best on that day. Alfred Morris Womens Jersey . As much as
being able to play in a Super Bowl game is a dream come true for many, if not
all, players, there is a level of anxiety and insecurity that must be managed
and used to a personal advantage for the players. The closer it gets to the
actual game, the more you realize that no matter the position, you will be
evaluated with greater intensity than ever before. Or maybe ever will in your
career. It is very true that as there are different people, there are people
that handle the pressure of a championship game differently. So how do you
handle pressure? How do you maximize a moment when the moment is so public? The
obvious answer is to prepare or even over-prepare. To make sure you have covered
every possible situation and scenario that could occur and feel confident that
you will react correctly. When you are prepared, you have a peace of mind that
generates confidence. The other mentality that needs to be mastered is the
ability to relax and enjoy the process. For many, including myself, this is
difficult to do because we all tend to live in the future rather than enjoy the
present. Football, especially across the line of scrimmage, is a fight. You
raise and lower your intensity and focus from play to play, depending on the
circumstance. But the key is to stay intense and relaxed throughout the game. I
know it sounds like a contradiction in terms but it is an emotional state of
mind that is effective. There is a balance there that players constantly strive
to achieve and feel. It is classified as being in the zone, a unique level of
concentration where all outside is not present and only the purpose of the
moment is relevant. It takes awareness and mass repetition but for any human
being, it is very possible. And its a wonderful feeling; hard to describe but
confident in feeling, not so much as a discipline of the mind as a choice of
disciplining yourself.    If you ever want to achieve it, you must learn to
concentrate. In the media room at the Indianapolis Convention Center, there are
20 different conversations going on. I can hear them all but I choose to not
lift my vision away from the paper Im writing on and the pen Im using. The way I
have learned to handle the pressure of the moment is to first, be immensely
prepared and secondly, raise my concentration within the moment. Notice I didnt
say my emotion, but my concentration. Everything happens in the mind first and
the body second. I can only imagine what will be going through the players
individual minds during the national anthem on Super Bowl Sunday. Flashbacks to
childhood dreams? Visual acknowledgement of the opponent 53 yards away looking
at you? An overriding desire to just get started so you can move and begin the
game? For each individual player, its a different type of pressure to manage. In
the end, the only person that can create a great game or a bad memory is you. If
you are prepared and you are in the zone, there is nothing else you can do. You
are ready. Concentration is a mindset that can create success because
concentration overrides emotion. It controls it and funnels it into positive
action. As much as football is a physical sport, it is a mind game; a mind
battle within yourself. So allow me to rephrase my opening sentence. Its not the
best team that wins, its the team that can concentrate at the highest level that
will win. That is, the mind first and the body second.  Pierre Garcon Womens Jersey . The 25-year-old
winger recorded 17 goals and 43 points in 75 games for the Predators last
season. In 10 post-season games, Kostitsyn notched a goal and an assist in 10
games. Ryan Kerrigan Jersey . Manager Buck Showalter
said before Mondays game at Minnesota that Andino will be placed on the 15-day
disabled list, and the team will recall left-hander Zach Britton to make
Tuesdays start against the Twins. http://www.redskinsfansstore.com/robert-griffin-iii-jersey
.C. —Yani Tseng and Na Yeon Choi were feeling right at home in Vancouver
during Thursdays opening round of the Canadian Womens Open. Aldrick Robinson Jersey . Brown, from Carp,
Ont., finished the 1.5-kilometre swim, 40- kilometre bike and 10-kilometre run
in a time of two hours 10 minutes 50 seconds. Pierre Garcon Jersey . Leading up to the
draft there will be plenty of prospects to look at and plenty of talk about
getting players without contracts, under contract. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. —After
losing centre Roy Hibbert to an injury after the first half, the Indiana Pacers
turned to their defence, Tyler Hansbrough and Jeff Pendergraph. Those efforts
led to an 88-77 win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. David West had
23 points and George Hill 18 points and seven assists for the Pacers. The win
put the Pacers two games over .500 for the first time this season. Hibbert
suffered a deep thigh bruise. But Indiana held the Pistons scoreless for 6:05 in
the fourth quarter while also getting big efforts from reserve big men
Hansbrough and Pendergraph. Hansbrough had 11 points and six rebounds in almost
25 minutes and Pendergraph two points and three rebounds in just under eight
minutes. “Guys stepping up after we lost Roy to an injury,” Pacers coach Frank
Vogel said. ”... Pendergraph and Hansbrough really stepped up.” Paul George
added 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Greg Monroe led the Pistons
with 18 points and added eight rebounds and Rodney Stuckey had 15 points and
seven assists. Brandon Knight added 14 points. “It came down to a grind game in
the last eight minutes of the game. They did what they do best and thats win
grind games,” Detroit rookie centre Andre Drummond said. “Theyre a great team
and David West hit a lot of tough shots today. It was a learning game for us
today.” Kyle Singlers jumper brought Detroit within two at 68-66 with nine
minutes left. But thats when the Pacers defence put the clamps on the Pistons
offence, which didnt score again until Stuckeys driving layup with 2:55
remaining. “Thats what weve been preaching all year long: The defence is going
to gget us the wins,” Hill said. Trent Williams Jersey. West added: “We just
try to make teams score through us or over us.” Indiana scored 11 points during
that span. West hit a free throw with 7:23 left, George put in a driving lay-in
at 6:03, West hit a hook with 5:21 remaining, Hill hit a 3 with four minutes
left, George made a free throw with 3:36 on the clock and Wests turnaround
jumper gave the Pacers a 79-66 lead with 3:17 left. “Our crunch time defence has
been solid for us this year,” Vogel said. “And weve got big-time shot makers in
George Hill and David West.” Detroit coach Lawrence Frank lamented the Pistons
dry spell. “Really, you look right at the 8:23 mark, it was a two-point game,”
he said. “From that point on, we missed five jumpers, we had two turnovers and a
missed layup.” Indiana took a 63-60 lead into the fourth quarter after Singlers
3-pointer with 1:29 left in the third and Drummonds put-back dunk with 49
seconds remaining in the quarter brought the Pistons to within three. Indiana
led 42-38 at the half. The Pacers went on an early 15-0 run that gave them a
17-6 lead with 6:51 left in the first quarter after Gerald Greens 3-pointer. But
the Pistons followed that up with a 14-3 spurt that allowed them to tie the game
at 20 on Stuckeys driving layup with 1:59 remaining in the opening quarter.
Notes: Vogel said he expected Hibbert to be ready for Indianas next game, on
Tuesday at Milwaukee. ... Pacers guard Lance Stephenson didnt play because of a
sprained right ankle. ... Both teams were playing for the second consecutive
night. The Pacers beat Philadelphia 95-85 at home and Detroit lost 107-105 in
double overtime to the Nets in Brooklyn. ’ ’ ’
