LONDON —Harry Redknapps first match in charge of Queens Park Rangers ended in
a dour 0-0 draw at Sunderland, underlining the size of the task facing the
former Tottenham manager at the Premier Leagues last-place team. Joe Staley Jersey . QPR remains without a
victory after 14 games but is now four points adrift at the foot of the
standings after second-bottom Reading lost 1-0 at Aston Villa in another match
between two of the divisions strugglers. Belgium striker Christian Benteke
headed in Villas winner in the 80th minute, earning his team its third win of
the campaign under new manager Paul Lambert. Villa climbed out of the bottom
three and is now level on points with Sunderland. The poor fare on show Tuesday
suggests all four teams will be fighting against relegation this season,
although QPR will hope the appointment of Redknapp will spark an upturn of
fortunes in the coming weeks. “There were some good points coming out of that. I
felt more optimistic tonight than I did on Saturday,” said Redknapp, who took
the reins after a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend. “I just have
to keep encouraging them.” Redknapp has previously worked wonders at Tottenham
and Portsmouth when taking over at a struggling club, but he acknowledged Monday
that the salvage operation at Loftus Road is his biggest challenge yet. On this
evidence, Redknapps team will be harder to beat than that of previous incumbent
Mark Hughes, who lost his job on Friday with QPR the only side in all of
Englands four leagues yet to have won a game. Redknapp fielded a more
defensively minded midfield at Stadium of Light and saw his team create only a
few chances, with Jamie Mackie wasting the best of them in a one-on-one
opportunity in the first half. Sunderland was just as rudderless at the other
end, however, and was booed off by fans who are growing increasingly impatient
with manager Martin ONeill, who was forced to deny rumours circulating this
weekend that he had offered his resignation. Steven Fletcher had the hosts best
chances but was first denied by Julio Cesar and then Rob Green, who replaced the
Brazilian in goal at halftime. With Darren Bent left out of Villas squad for the
second match running, the onus was on Benteke to carry the goal threat and the
21-year-old striker delivered the goods by planting a downward header into the
net from Ashley Westwoods left-wing corner. “Its massive,” Villa midfielder
Barry Bannan said. “We need to win games and its a big relief for us. Theres
been a lot of people talking about us being in the bottom three and its hard to
take.” The focus turns to the top of the table on Wednesday, with the two
Manchester clubs and Chelsea in action in the remaining eight midweek fixtures.

West would be more simplified than the world we live in now, when an employer
who makes billions of dollars and a league with record revenues can tell me that
I cant do the things that my heart tells me to do! All what my heart tells me to
do far surpasses what my body has endured,” said Barch, who signed a two-year,

high run doesnt figure to be in danger tonight given their run of success versus
the Edmonton Oilers. The Flames look to continue their domination in the Battle
of Alberta this evening as they go for a 10th straight win over the Oilers. Vernon Davis Black Jersey . Painter threw

to victory in a womens World Cup Super-G on Saturday and found herself in an
unwitting and unwanted spat with her main rival Tina Maze. Vonn extended her
perfect record in four speed races this season, timing 1 minute, 2.71 seconds to
beat World Cup overall leader Maze by 0.37 seconds. Julia Mancuso of the United
States was third, 1.01 behind Vonn. Yet talk soon centred on what Mazes coaches
alleged Vonn said as she celebrated after crossing the line. The 28-year-old
American acknowledged that she used a curse word in a release of emotion at
taking the lead—but had not directed it at Maze. “They think I said something
very bad about her when I came to the finish and that is absolutely not true,”
Vonn said. “I swore and I shouldnt have done that.” Vonn spoke after seeking out
Maze, and said she had told her: “I hope you trust me enough to believe me.”
“Apparently they dont. It definitely hurts,” said Vonn. “I would never say
anything bad about another athlete at the finish.” International Ski Federation
spokeswoman Riikka Rakic told The Associated Press that the race jury studied
footage of Vonns post-race reactions and found nothing wrong. Vonn said she had
been disappointed with her skiing when failing to finish Fridays super-combined,
which was won by Maze. Mazes victory a day earlier had put some pressure on
Vonn, who has been affected by illness and allowed a gap to develop in the
standings. She scored 100 points for the victory and trails Maze by 167. “Im
struggling with my sstrength,” Vonn said, adding that she skied at her limit
Saturday. Patrick Willis Elite Jersey. “I came down
with everything I have.” Marie-Michele Gagnon of Lac-Etchemin, Que., finished
tied for 13th. Vonns 57th career World Cup win, the second most in history, was
her 20th in Super-G. She is the four-time defending champion in the season-long
discipline title. She swept the three-race downhill and Super-G program last
weekend at Lake Louise, Alberta, and Vonn and Maze have now combined to win
seven of the nine World Cup events. “Tina has had an amazing season so far. Its
going to be a tough season,” said Vonn, who has won the overall title in four of
the past five seasons. Earlier, Maze said the defending champion was “tough, but
not impossible” to beat. “I wanted to win but Lindsey was better. It was fun to
ski today,” she said. Maze has a 163-point lead overall from 2011 champion Maria
Hoefl-Riesch of Germany, who placed fifth Saturday. Vonn is third overall. Maze
will be favoured to add to her advantage Sunday in a giant slalom, which has
traditionally been a weaker event for Vonn. Mancuso followed up a second place
in super-G last weekend, and ensured Vonn has been joined on the podium by a
teammate in all four victories. “I want to keep Lindsey on her toes in super-G,”
said Mancuso, who is fifth in the overall standings. “Right now, Lindsey and
Tina are in a different league. You have to have a perfect run to win.”
Saturdays race was run on a shortened course after forecast strong winds further
up the mountain. ’ ’ ’
