Barnaby Craddock is the new head coach of the University of Alberta Golden Bears mens basketball team. Karlos Dansby Jersey . ”Im excited to be a part of the Golden Bears and Pandas culture, an environment that pursues excellence in sport,” said Craddock. “The Golden Bears basketball program has a storied tradition and its an honour to become part of it.” Craddock has coached in Canadian Interuniversity Sport for over a decade, including seven seasons as head coach. With Brandon University (2006-2007), he amassed a 30-12 record, winning national coach of the year honours and the CIS silver medal in 2007. At the University of the Fraser Valley, which had just entered CIS and Canada West play after competing in the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association, he shepherded the fledgling program to four playoff seasons, their first CIS national ranking, the 2012 Canada West silver, and a fourth place finish at the most recent national championship. His all-time CIS record stands at 83-65, and includes two Canada West silver medals (2007 and 2012), CIS silver medal (2007) and the 2007 CIS coach of the year award. He has coached with various Canada Basketball teams, including the 2011 Summer University Games team that earned silver in Shenzhen, China, and featured current Golden Bear Jordan Baker, as well as the 2012 Canada Basketball Mens Cadet (U-17) team that is playing in the U-17 World Championship this summer in Lithuania. He joins a Golden Bears program that won the 2012 Canada West championship, with a win over UFV no less, finished second at the national championship, and features a stable of stars like Baker, who is CIS all-Canadian, and is averaging just a hair under a double-double in his three year career, as well as 2012 CIS championship tournament all-star Sahr Saffa, and Todd Bergen-Henengouwen. ”So many elite players and coaches have been involved with this program. Im enthusiastic to work with the talented group of current student-athletes, as well the challenge of continuing the tradition of excellence that the Golden Bears basketball program is synonymous with,” said Craddock. They turned to an unlikely player for a spark. Light-hitting Paul Janish sparked a tying rally, and kept things going in the 11th inning with his third hit of the night before pinch-hitter Juan Francisco won it with a two-out single, giving the Braves their fourth straight win, 4-3 over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. Cameron Wake Jersey . But Toronto FC didnt comply, battering the visitors 5-1 to open CONCACAF Champions League group stage play. Reggie Lambe got two goals, while Luis Silva, Terry Dunfield and Ryan Johnson also scored for the Reds in front of a dismal crowd of 5,324. Jake Long Jersey . Holland (6-4) entered the game with a 5.05 ERA and only one scoreless start in 2012, which was when he threw six innings at Baltimore on May 10. Calder and Frandsen put forth a strong performance, placing third in their semi-final race behind a dominant performance by New Zealands undefeated Eric Murray and Hamish Bond. The top three crews from each semi-final race advance to the A final, which takes place on Day 7. Calder and Frandsen got a good start, surging ahead to take an early lead, but not for long; New Zealands Murray and Bond quickly settled into a comfortable first place, leaving Canada in second at the 500 metre mark. A strong Italian crew passed Calder and Frandsen to claim second place, leaving Canada in third for the majority of the race.dddddddddddd Despite the fact that Canada is among the top contenders in the event, they were placed in the same race as the reigning world champions due to their heat time being the slowest qualifying time of heat winners. In the second semi-final race, Great Britains George Nash and William Satch placed first by almost a boats length, followed by Frances Germain Chardin and Dorian Mortelette, and James Marburg and Brodie Buckland of Australia. New Zealands Murray and Bond are undefeated since 2009 and are the favourite to win gold in the event. ’ ’ ’
