I’m thinking of putting together a Bug and beta COD II Capture the Flag game? Anyone play COD II? Anyone interested?

I’d like to but 3D stuff makes me barf these days. I have to stick to my SNES emulator, the DS and the Wii ;-)

Thanks Ken! I’m so caught up in the C.O.D. lifestyle I’ve been using it like I use ‘RV’ or ‘TV’.

I’m mostly with Fin here, since I prefer games that don’t require dramamine to play effectively.. but I’ve been known to play twitch-type games from time to time.
Any idea whether COD plays nicely with Linux/wine?

From what I’ve seen, there are mixed reports about how well COD2 plays under Wine. Then again, I guess I could say that for just about any app under Wine. :?
I think that COD2 is a little easier on the queasy factor than a lot of the other shooters out there. It’s not quite as fast paced as, say, UT, which helps.

I’ll give it a shot. I’m going to blow away my desktop box tonight and stick Gutsy on it; provided that goes without much of a problem wine and COD2 should be soon to follow.
...and then, carnage!

We’ve talked about setting up a regular weekly game in the past, but we should just do it. I suggest we start tomorrow (Weds.) at 6pm Eastern Time, and continue to have the game every weds at 6. ??

Weekly game sounds good. Without the planning, doesn’t this happen anyway? If 6 pm turns out to be too early for you working stiffs (or west coast stiffs) we’ll do another, later time in the near future as well.

AFAIK COD only works on OS X and windows. Can anyone recommend a tux friendly fps that is decent?

Virtually all id software games are Linux-friendly; I’ve also played Source engine games via Wine/Cedega without too much of a problem. I haven’t tried TF2 yet, though.
So.. Doom deathmatch, anyone? ;)

Tried this one out on my Mac, and it runs like a champ. Could be fun. Much more fast paced than CoD.
Free/Open Source, runs on Mac, Linux and Windows.

Check out Alien Arena. (http://alienarena.org) It’s a pretty impressive FPS.

Warsow for the win! Runs on all OS’s, designed from the ground up for multiplayer, extremely fun, beautiful artwork, very stable, and large competitive worldwide community.

Looks cool but I’m only seeing Windows and Linux, no Mac support. Is that provided elsewhere?

As far as I know there is no official mac-supported release, but there are instructions for compiling it for a mac floating around somewhere and ever so often some mac hackers compile binaries and stick them on the forums.

Tried out Warsow, and I’m pretty impressed. I’m not very good at it, though :)
Also, I have a dirty little secret. I like Magic: the Gathering. Anyone else feel like owning up?

I’m going to the M:TG Vintage Power 9 tournament this weekend. Anybody else gonna be there? =D
I took 20th place with Fish at the last P9… not bad, but I plan on doing better this time. The last tournament was the first time I’d played in years.
