23 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 97-86
victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night. The Spurs played without
Stephen Jackson, who was out with the flu, and Duncan and several other players
were a bit under the weather. But they led for much of the game in defeating the
Kings for the ninth straight time in Sacramento. Reserve Patty Mills gave the
Spurs a huge lift, making 8-of-9 shots and scoring 18 points. Kawhi Leonard had

who had won two straight. DeMarcus Cousins, the teams leading scorer and
rebounder, was in foul trouble much of the game and finished with 14 points and

free throws and Duncan followed with an uncontested dunk to give San Antonio an
86-77 lead with 3:21 remaining. Mills 3-pointer extended the advantage to 89-79.
Cousins went to the bench with four fouls early in the third quarter and the
Kings trailing 59-47. But Sacramento rallied without its leading scorer, using a
15-4 run to briefly grab the lead. Cousins finally got going in the final
period, challenging Duncan inside and scoring five straight Kings points during
one stretch to keep Sacramento close. Tyreke Evans scored eight points and both
Thompson and Thornton had seven in the third quarter, helping the Kings close to
69-68 heading into the fourth. The Spurs shot 7 of 20 in the third after
shooting nearly 55 per cent in the first half. With Parker playing without his
usual energy due to flu-like symptoms and Manu Ginobili still feeling the
effects of a sore back, Duncan was clearly looking for shots early. He made the
Spurs first basket on a jumper and had 12 points and seven rebounds at the
break. After an impressive opening quarter, the Kings shot 25 per cent in the
second period and were outscored 23-12. Thompson had 10 first-half points.
NOTES: Kings reserve PG Aaron Brooks missed all five shots and went scoreless in
19 minutes. . Kings rookie Thomas Robinson was held out for the first game in a

Ryu and Hee Kyung Seo dominated the leaderboard, sharing the top spot at
11-under 202 on Saturday through the third round. Two more South Koreans, Inbee
Park (69) and second-round leader Chella Choi (70), were a shot back along with
Japans Mika Miyazato (69). Call them the Seoul sisters. “It will be really
exciting Sunday,” said Kim, who will be chasing her fourth career LPGA Tour
victory. “These are players that I grew up with. I know them personally and I
know their family issues and all that. So, even though were playing in the U.S.,
having them around I feel much more at home.” South Koreans have not only
flooded (43 of them on the roster this year) but also dominated the LPGA Tour in
recent years. Still, they have seldom taken over a tournament like the one at
Highland Meadows. In addition to filling the top four spots and six of the top
seven, South Korea was represented by players occupying seven of the top 11
positions and 11 of the top 25 through 54 holes. Even though they are extremely
competitive, dont expect any gamesmanship. “There are a lot of Korean players on
tour,” said Shin, who has won eight times in LPGA events since 2008, including

of 66. In other words, almost the perfect definition of consistency. Ryu
acknowledged that, then added, “Sometimes someone is crazy and has a low score —

8-under 205 were Americans Jacqui Concolino (69) and Angela Stanford (69), along
with first-round leader Pernilla Lindberg of Sweden (70) and yet another South
Korean, Hee-Won Han (70). Needless to say, all eyes will be on the intrasquad
scrimmage atop the leaderboard between the longtime friends, neighbours and
countrywomen. “We pretty much help each other,” said Ryu, who defeated Seo in a
three-hole playoff at the 2011 U.S. Womens Open to earn her first and only tour
victory. “If some Koreans have a winning chance, everybody will be waiting on
the 18th green and everybody will congratulate the winner. Our relationship is
