Canadas synchronized swimming duet improved two places from their finish at the
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, but on Tuesday they fell just short of earning the
countrys first Olympic medal in the event in 20 years. With a total score of
189.120 out of a possible 200 points, Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon and Élise
Marcotte finished in fourth place. Also ranked fourth in the world before the
London 2012 Games, the two women kept their two duet programs under lock and
key, hoping the secrecy would help Canada to its first Olympic medal in synchro
duet since Barcelona 1992. Canada finished sixth at the 2008 Olympic Games, but
improved to fourth at the most recent world championships in Shanghai. Canada
entered the final just 1.5 points behind Spain in fourth place, having performed
a strong “Zipper” themed technical program in Sundays preliminary competition.
They followed up with their “Jester” free routine on Tuesday, a fast-paced,
energetic set with quick, sharp leg movements and comedic facial expressions.
The final rankings are determined by adding the technical and free final scores
together. Boudreau Gagnon and Marcottes free program recalled elements of
Shakespearian court jesters, and was meant to be a wink to the British people,
the swimmers said. But however much the crowd got into the act, the judges were
not as impressed. They awarded the Canadians a score of 47.180 for technical
merit and 47.440 for artistic impression for a total of 94.620 for the program.
The result was not enough to move Canada into third – or even to narrow the gap
to the podium. Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina received Russias
fourth-straight gold medal in the event, picking up an impressive 98.900 points
for their swim to Suspiria, Amelie and Sleepy Hollow soundtracks. Their combined
score was an astounding 197.100 points. Spain scored 192.900 overall to take
silver, swimming a Tango themed free program on Tuesday. Four years after China
won their first synchronized swimming medal—bronze—in the team event at
the Olympic Games in Beijing, Huang Xuechen and Liu Ou picked up Chinas first
Olympic medal in the duet. They scored 192.870 to pick up bronze. Canada will
also perform in the team synchronized swimming event, beginning on Thursday.
Again, Canadas team is ranked fourth in the world, and they are expected to be
podium contenders in the Olympic competition. Tim Tebow Youth Jets Jersey . The Canucks,
who lead the division by 14 points over Colorado, have won three straight and
have recorded at least a point in eight straight outings (6-0-2). Vancouver has
suffered just two regulation losses during the 2012 calendar year, posting a
10-2-3 mark since the beginning of January. Tim Tebow Womens Jets Jersey . Cabrera went 4
for 4 to hike his average to .369 and has 73 hits, most in the majors. He also
stole two bases. Cain (5-2) allowed two runs, one earned, and won for the fourth
start in a row. Santiago Casilla gave up one hit in 1 1-3 scoreless innings for
his 12th save in 13 chances. http://www.jetsprostore.com/tim-tebow-jersey
. Hutchison had retired two batters with nine pitches when he left the game with
a sore right elbow after a visit from manager John Farrell and a trainer.
Left-hander Aaron Laffey took his place. Right-hander Brandon Morrow left
Mondays start with a strained left oblique muscle and has been placed on the
15-day disabled list. Tim Tebow Jets Jersey .C. —Down to 12
healthy players, the Charlotte Bobcats have signed small forward Jamario Moon
for the rest of the season. TORONTO —Jon Jones will not face Lyoto Machida for
the light heavyweight title at UFC 152 after all. Machida has turned down the
opportunity to fight on the Toronto card next month so Jones will instead face
Brazilian Vitor Belfort. Jones was initially supposed to fight Dan Henderson on
Sept. 1 in UFC 151 in Las Vegas. But Henderson injured his knee and Jones
declined a replacement fight with Chael Sonnen, forcing the UFC to cancel the
Vegas card. UFC president Dana White was furious with Jones and his trainer,
Greg Jackson, after the UFC was forced to scrap a major card for the first time
in his 11 years in charge of mixed martial arts dominant promotion. “This is
probably one of my all-time lows,” White said after announcing the cancellation
Thursday. “The one thing that I never thought in a million years would eveer
happen—it happened.dddddddddddd” White said Jones is the first UFC champion
ever to turn down a match even on such short notice, calling the decision
“selfish” and “disgusting.” Jones (16-1) is among the sports top handful of
pound-for-pound fighters after his meteoric rise to the title in March 2011 in
just his eighth UFC fight. Belfort (21-9) will give up his bout against Alan
Belcher at UFC 153 to take on Jones. He hasnt fought at light heavyweight since
2007. Meanwhile, Dan Miller has been forced out of his UFC 152 fight with
Torontos Sean Pierson due to a medical issue with his son. The UFC will look for
a replacement for Miller. A welterweight bout between Charlie Brenneman and Kyle
Noke, which was originally scheduled for UFC 151, has also been added to the
Sept. 22 Toronto card. ’ ’ ’
