The stage is set to honour some of Canadas Olympians during the Canadian Olympic Team Block Party Presented by Molson. Denarius Moore Jersey . The sidewalk celebration will take place in Torontos Maple Leaf Square on Thursday, beginning at 12pm et/9am pt. Hosted by TSNs Cabbie Richards along with co-hosts James Duthie of TSN and Chantal Machabee of RDS, the afternoon celebration is sure to bring out plenty of Olympic fans—and national pride. The event acts as a send-off for some of Canadas London-bound athletes, including Toronto-based trampolinists Jason Burnett, Karen Cockburn and Rosie MacLennan, members of the Canadian gymnastics squad, as well as swimmers Brittany MacLean and Tobias Oriwol, and modern pentathlete Donna Vakalis. It is also a chance to recognize some of the Winter Olympians who brought magic to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, such as Olympic bronze medallist Joannie Rochette and members of the gold medal-winning womens hockey team including Jennifer Botterill and Jayna Hefford. The block party is also a time to recognize athletes from past Olympic competitions, like skiers Brian Stemmle and Deidra Dionne and rower—and current CTVOlympics analyst—Marnie McBean. “Athletes are at the core of everything we do,” Canadian Olympic Committee Chief Executive Officer Christopher Overholt said in a COC press release. “This gives our fans the chance to enjoy a first-class show and support the athletes who will give their everything in London.” The event will also feature a performance by multi-platinum music group Hedley. Canadian Olympic Committee Chef de Mission and former Olympic swimmer Mark Tewksbury will also be at the event and will take to the stage to make a speech and present the athletes. The event will also feature a red carpet, autograph opportunities, giveaways and a group rendition of the national anthem led by Canadian blues and jazz vocalist Shakura SAida.
