Canadas Derek Drouin won a bronze medal in mens high jump Tuesday at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Packers Clay Matthews Jersey . In an unconventional finish, Drouin finished in a three-way tie for third place with Qatars Mutaz Essa Barshim and Great Britains Robert Grabarz . All three jumpers earned bronze medals. “I dont think I have ever been in a tie that was so big,” Drouin said after the event. “We kind of predicted that with the increments being so steep that there might be a tie.” The Corunna, Ont., native missed all three attempts at 2.33 metres. He locked up the bronze when Jamie Nieto of the United States missed twice at 2.33 metres and then once at 2.36. “I had to sit there and wait for (Nieto) of the USA to miss his jump to confirm the bronze medal,”Drouin told Athletics Canada. “That was really hard.” It was Drouins first Olympic Games appearance and Canadas first high jump medal since Greg Joy earned silver at Montreal 1976. “It was awesome,” he said. “My two sisters and my parents were here and the flag that I carried round had been signed by all my friends to say good luck.” The 22-year-old is a student at Indiana University, where he is a three-time NCAA champion in high jump and 2011 NCAA National Mens Field Athlete of the Year. Russias Ivan Ukhov won the gold medal while Erik Kynard of the United States finished second. Ukhov was involved in the events strangest moment when he was scrambling to find his competition tank top right before his jump. With time running out, Ukhov managed to find a blue shirt and successfully land his attempt in less than conventional fashion. “I am grateful to the judges that gave me time to look for the T-shirt,” Ukhov said. Michael Mason of Nanoose Bay, B.C., cleared 2.29 metres but placed eighth overall after missing two of his attempts at that height. Canada now has 11 medals at London 2012. A.J. Hawk Jersey . Vandor, 37, and Jarvis, 28, fell behind the top two crews. Questions arose as to whether the duo would post a late sprint—asignature stint of Canadian coach Mike Spracklens crews—but rather than expendtoo much energy, they decided to reserve that power for the repechage. http://www.nflpackersgearshop.com/aaron-rodgers-jersey/ . Speaking to the media on team photo day, DeBoer spoke of his wingers back ailment. “It was quite a bit under 100 percent,” DeBoer said. Limited Clay Matthews Jersey . The player, who had stops at three different schools while in college before being drafted by the Rangers, is now in his seventh season with Texas. His new deal begins in 2013 and includes a club option for 2018. “I had one backpack, one pair of shoes, hiked from college to college. Clay Matthews Jersey . Polish qualifier Jerzy Janowicz came up short on his first try, but not before leaving the impression that he could well earn another chance soon.FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Patriots spent their first work day of 2008 with the same attitude they had in 2007: forget yesterday, focus on today and dont worry about tomorrow. One meeting at a time plus one practice at a time will equal, they hope, the only 19-0 season in NFL history. Junior Seau took an extremely shortsighted view Thursday when players returned from a three-day break. The 38-year-old linebacker stood in his football pants at his locker before donning his pads and was asked if the team has better practices equipped like that than with lighter gear. “Well find that answer out in another two hours,” he said. “There arent any guarantees.” Coach Bill Belichick opened his first news conference of the year with a pleasant, but telling, greeting. “Happy New Year, everyone,” he said. “Were definitely in one.” For New England, 16-0 occurred last year – just the winning numbers in the lottery that earned home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Now there are 12 teams left and all are 0-0. That prompted Belichick to finally use the “U” word that rarely, if ever, crossed his lips when his team was the only one that was undefeated. “Its a privilege, of course, to be involved in the second season here in the NFL, the new one where everybodys undefeated and were all starting at the bottom,” he said before the Patriots first practice since their 38-35 win over the New York Giants last Saturday night. The Patriots have been at the top all season – from their 38-14 opening win at the New York Jets to the last victory in the same stadium that wrapped up the first 16-0 regular season. Thats one for the record books, not for the players who produced it. “We dont care. It doesnt matter,” safety Rodney Harrison said. “What happened in the past happened in the past. “You really have to just focus on the here and the now, and no one cares about 16-0. No one cares about what weve done. Its about what were going to do.” On Thursday, they worked on their own game, eliminating mistakes and figuring out how to improve. They cant zero in on their opponent in the divisional game Jan. 12 until after this weekends AFC wild-card games: Jacksonville at Pittsburgh on Saturday night and Tennessee at San Diego on Sunday. Members of Belichicks staff are studying the tthree teams the Patriots might play. Packers Randall Cobb Jersey. The lowest remaining seed among No. 4 Pittsburgh, No. 5 Jacksonville and No. 6 Tennessee will visit Gillette Stadium on Jan. 12. Several Patriots plan to watch the AFC games at home. Belichick said he wasnt sure where hed catch the Saturday night game that, barring a Tennessee upset the next day, would determine New Englands opponent. In a sports bar, perhaps? “Yeah, thats kind of what I was thinking,” he said with a smile. “Maybe hit a couple of them – first half, second half. Get a different flavour for it.” But, seriously, he doesnt find scouting from telecasts all that helpful. “Its hard to see the game from the coaching standpoint, the way we need to see it,” Belichick said. “But its interesting to see how it goes. “Its AFC playoffs, so were interested in that, but well wait until we get the game tapes and break those down rather than try to break it down off TV.” Seau still has friends on the Chargers team he played with for the first 13 of his 18 seasons and lives in the San Diego region in the off-season. “Obviously, Ill be watching San Diego, cheering for them,” he said. “Ive got my popcorn, everything on timer, ready to go.” Then it will be time to get serious. By Sunday night, New England can begin preparing for its opponent, who will be trying to ruin the perfect season by handing the Patriots their first loss since last years AFC championship game at Indianapolis. They know the intensity and the stakes will be higher than in the regular season. But that stretch, and the concentration on just the next game, prepared them for this stage. “Weve been doing it from the beginning,” cornerback Ellis Hobbs said. “Every game is like, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0. “So, before you become 1-0, what are you? Zero and zero. So its like this is just a smooth transition.” Before the playoffs even start, the Patriots must focus on a Friday practice. No need to look beyond that – or before that. “A lot of the things that happened last year really havent sunk in,” Seau said. “Because of that, what you have to do (is) just keep on pressing. Every day, keep on pressing. “If we are able to do what we need to do next week, then we afford ourselves another week of employment.” ’ ’ ’
