I was thinking maybe a chat room for us to hangout and get help. I could see people getting help faster that way. The down side to this is that others will not be able to lookup problems that others have run into. Maybe a chat bot could hangout in the channel and log everything that goes on maybe have some one on the team export some of the problems and solutions to the forum. I know this is not a great idea but being able to bounce ideas of others live has always helped me. Just an idea

Hi Duster,
No this is a great idea :). In fact we’ve been experimenting (http://eclipse.org/ecf) with adding IRC chat directly into the SDK, but because of some versioning issues are unable to release it. I’ll get back to you when we get something setup for this.
Out of curiosity, would you use an integrated IRC client in Eclispe if it ‘just worked’ or do you prefer to use a dedicated client?

I myself would prob just used a detached client as I already hangout in one chat room sometimes so it would just be easier for me to open up another one

I idle on freenode out of habit anyhow – I’m now in #bugbeta for those of you that are interested in joining me on IRC.
Personally, I prefer standalone IRC clients to anything that’d be integrated into Eclipse.

I am now in the #bugbeta IRC room now, thanks koolatron! I’m an IRC N00B so cut me some slack ;)

Ha, aren’t we all. If you need a tutorial on how to get into the chat room, let me know via PM on this here board and I’ll get you set up. There’ve yet to be really any lively discussions in the room as far as I’ve seen, but I’m in the wrong hemisphere for the week, so if there were, I probably missed them.
