GUADALAJARA, Mexico—Catriona Matthew shot her second straight 4-under 68 on Saturday to take a three-stroke lead after the third round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Nate Washington Jersey . Matthew, the 42-year-old Scot who won the 2009 Womens British Open for the last of her three LPGA Tour titles, had an 11-under 205 total at Guadalajara Country Club. “I think Im putting the ball better this year, being more consistent,” Matthew said. “I havent made the mistakes that I have made in the last couple of years. More bad shots the last years. This year in general Ive been more consistent and pitching the ball better, so makes it easier when youre on the fairway.” She played the first 52 holes without a bogey before dropping a stroke on No. 17. “Ive hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and it makes it quite easy,” Matthew said. “I havent missed a lot of greens, and dont have the pressure to get up and down then, so hopefully I can keep it up for another day.” Norways Suzann Pettersen (71) was second, and defending champion I.K. Kim (70) was another stroke back along with Anna Nordqvist (73). “Im delighted to be in the lead,” Matthew said. “I would rather be three shots in the lead rather than three behind. I.K., Suzann and Anna all back there, all capable of coming up from behind, so Im going to have to go out there tomorrow and shoot something in the 60s, I think.” Last year, Kim closed with a 64 to beat Pettersen by three strokes. “Is this a course where you can shoot a low round and come from behind, I.K.?” Pettersen joked with Kim, who also was in the interview room. “Yeah, it is. It is. I witnessed it last year so, no, I mean, obviously if you get going, try to take advantage of so many par 5s. There are tough holes coming up, and with the greens firm, you never know what its going to be, but you have to put a good number together tomorrow.” Hall of Famer Juli Inkster, tied for the lead after the first two rounds in the 36-player event, was 5 under after a 75. The 51-year-old Inkster is trying to become the oldest winner in LPGA Tour history. Michelle Wie, the 2009 winner, was tied for 12th at 1 under after a 71. Top-ranked Yani Tseng was 26th at 3 over after a 74. Tseng is coming off victories in the LPGA Tours Taiwan Championship and Ladies European Tours Suzhou Taihu Ladies in China. The Taiwanese star has seven LPGA Tour wins this season, including major victories in the LPGA Championship and Womens British Open, and four other worldwide wins. She tied for 18th in 2008 in the inaugural event in Guadalajara, tied for eighth in 2009 and was 27th last year. The tee on the par-5 18th hole were moved up 40 yards Saturday, cutting the hole from 521 yards to 481. “I think its good they moved it up,” Pettersen said. “I dont think youve seen a lot of birdies there today. I dont think youve seen a lot of eagles, so I dont think it really makes an overall difference on how the hole is played, but it gives us a chance. Even if you hit a great drive you had to hit a perfect shot to get it on, and the bunkers on the left are more in play. So its nice to have a finishing hole where good shots can make a difference.” Kenny Britt Jersey . – Quarterback Brock Osweiler was supposed to be the rookie from Arizona State to watch for Denver on Thursday. Matt Hasselbeck Jersey . Bruce launched his 18th homer of the season, while Bailey (1-0) gave up three runs on three hits and seven walks, with two strikeouts, in five innings for the Reds, who had lost five of six coming into the game. Bailey won for the first time since September 30, 2006, having dropped his last six decisions. http://www.titansprostore.com/rob-bironas-jersey . Four years later, Russia is built around a nucleus of the same players, is again led by a Dutch coach, and will be looking to go a step further in Poland and Ukraine. Russia coach Dick Advocaat has fielded a largely unchanged lineup since the last European Championship, building trust and experience among players who almost all compete in Russias national league. Kendall Wright Jersey . So what can he do for an encore at the Tour de France? The 31-year-old from Victoria went into the Giro knowing it was well set up for him—there were tough climbs in the final week and Hesjedal is good when the going gets tough. The team activated shortstop John McDonald from the disabled list on Tuesday to take Roberts spot on the roster. McDonald had been sidelined since early June with a back injury. Teams can claim Roberts on waivers, but in the meantime the Diamondbacks have 10 days to work out a trade. Roberts said he was told that the trade was imminent, that the talks with another team were “on the 1-yard line.” Roberts was the teams regular third baseman in its surprising run to the NL West title a year ago, batting .249 with 19 home runs and 65 RBIs. But his playing time diminished this season and the team recently called up third baseman Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Reno. Roberts is hitting .250 with six home runs and 34 RBIs. In the clubhouse after the move was announced, Roberts thanked the Diamondbacks and the fans. “Thats going to be the No. 1 thing tthats going to be tough for me,” Roberts said. Jake Locker Jersey. “Ill definitely miss my teammates. Ill definitely miss the fans that supported me when things were good and when things were bad. Thats going to be the thing that hits home the most. Four years here, building friendships knowing everybody from (team president) Derrick Hall down to the batboys.” Roberts said his time with the Diamondbacks moulded him into a major league player. “It gave me the chance to be the player that I am right now,” he said. Manager Kirk Gibson remembered when Roberts, frustrated by being sent to the minors for the umpteenth time, talked about quitting the game. Gibson said he talked him out of it. “Hes always played hard, to the last game hes played for us,” Gibson said. “I have the utmost respect for him and the way he plays. I just would hope that I was just a part of what helped him shape the way he plays. Maybe when he has a great accomplishment someday that I can smile and know that I had an influence in a positive direction.” ’ ’ ’
