Upcoming classes in the Test Kitchen

Find out about electricity in your body!  This class will be a high level introduction to the world of bioelectricity, and devices that act on these principles with a particular focus on implantable cardiac devices like pacemakers and defibrillators.  Matthieu and Krystoff, engineers with Medtronic, will discuss how living organisms create and maintain electrical potentials through the use of transmembrane ion pumps.

Sign Up for Clock Works

This lecture will cover the very basics of modern clockwork, with an introduction associating students with the history of horology. Escapements, gears, drives, and more will be discussed. At the end of the one hour lecture there will be some examination of clocks provided by the lecturer, John Metcalfe. Students are asked to bring any interesting clocks (not watches, and nothing electrical) for potential examination.

this workshop, Lee Mandell from Boswyck Farms (http://www.boswyckfarms.org/) will be teaching an inexpensive method for growing fruits and vegetables hydroponicallly indoors!

Complete self-contained hydroponic system capable of growing plants up to the size of tomatoes, cucumbers or peppers. This is a drip based system and runs on only a small aquarium type air pump. Easy to build, easy to use.
